For a Senior Citizen wanting to learn this new language, this was very helpful. The letters are huge (like for Kindergarten level) and it's so dramatically different from our alphabet, this was fun to work on.

A much better and more comprehensive treatment is "The Arabic Alphabet

As others have stated this only teaches the isolated forms of each letter, though it does a ok job of this. Haa is taught in the initial form. A much better and more comprehensive treatment is "The Arabic Alphabet: How to Read and Write It" by Nicholas Awde and Putros Samano. This includes all forms (initial, medial, final, and isolated) for each letter, breaks down the short vowels and other marks, and provides a much better foundation in general for this difficult language.The Amazon link is:

This is a great book for beginners looking to get familiar with Arabic characters and the Arabic alphabet. One big con of the book, however, is that there is no information on how to connect letters to one another. Thus, you only know the stand alone version of the letter, and not the way to link the letter for proper word formation. I would recommend this book to parents looking to introduce their children to the language but not for the serious student of Arabic who wants to have mastered the alphabet once finished with a book.

Dr. Theophilus A. Natter was born and reared in Calabar, Nigeria, in West Africa. His basic education began in neighboring Ghana. He attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina, before transferring to the Christian College of America in Houston, Texas, where he earned his BS degree in Psychology/Counseling. From the Houston Graduate School of Theology (also in Houston, Texas) he earned an MA. And from the International University for Graduate Studies in St. Kitts in the West Indies he earned a PhD in clinical Christian counseling and psychotherapy. He has been in private practice for more than eighteen years. He is also an ordained elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Wonderful Grandpa Story

I first saw and heard this book read when my husband and I went to Grandparents' Day at our granddaughter's school. The teacher read it to the children and grandparents who were visiting. I loved the story, so I found a used copy on Amazon and ordered it. I recently read it to my granddaughter again and we both giggled and enjoyed it. A compelling spiritual novel that will draw you in and open your eyes to past lives and our purpose in life

I downloaded this book, and planned on reading it over the long holiday weekend. Did that happen? Nope. Why? Because I ended up staying up late, voraciously reading it and finished it in one day.

Carson Gage does a wonderful job of really bringing his character Nick to life. A womanizing, emotionally distant workaholic who goes through a spiritual awakening in a very believable way. The transformation he goes through is incredible. Even though I'm a woman, I was really intrigued and drawn into the story, and found it fascinating. I even ended up highlighting a couple of spiritual terms that I have never heard about, although I've had an interest in spirituality since my teens.

The last time I was so wrapped up in a fiction novel that still gives spiritual lessons was years ago when I came across The Celestine Prophecy, one of my all time favorite books. This reminded me of it, in many ways, in the way it got me sucked into the story, and taught me lessons. I also loved the parts on the past life regression, and am so wanting to try that for myself now!

This was a very, very well written book and I hope the author writes many more stories in the future.

Fast Read But Thought Provoking

Soul Sessions just looked like something that was unique from the other books that are out there and it piqued my interest. I quickly ordered it on Amazon and I began to read it as soon as it was delivered to my doorstep. It’s a quick and compelling read that I sat down and devoured in one sitting, pausing to make more tea and eventually to pour a glass of wine but otherwise staying glued to my couch, beneath my favorite crochet blanket, turning page after page.

What I loved:

I really appreciate stories that look at depression in an honest way.

I also appreciate that there are many different ways to get out of depression and I think this one – the potential to find a lost love in this life time – is an intriguing one.

It’s a love story. How can I not love a good love story? But it’s not a traditional love story in any sense of the word.

It’s thought-provoking. It’s really more than love story. It’s a story about spiritual growth.

This book will definitely keep your attention and make you think!

A close friend passed along Soul Sessions after finishing it herself and thinking my book club might enjoy it. I was hesitant to recommend it at first because it was different than the books we typically read but she made me promise to at least read the first 25 pages before deciding.

Once I started it, I had to force myself to stop because I knew my club would like it and I didn't want to get too far ahead. Although the members were open to reading it, I think it well exceeded their expectations! In fact, our discussions were some of the best we have ever had on any book in 4 years!

We all agreed we could relate to Nick in one way or another and that's what drew us in so quickly. For me, I found questions I had pondered in my past being brought to the forefront of my mind. I loved how this book opened up our minds and allowed us to explore some real life topics that we may never have been brave enough to touch on in other settings.

thorough coverage of synoptic meteorology

Bluestein's second volume is much more qualitative than the first; instead of dozens of derivations, he gives the reader a solid discussion of cyclones, applications of QG theory, fronts, jets, and then severe weather.
If you are new to meteorology, you'll still need a strong mathmematical background to follow Bluestein's text. The book is written at the academic level...I believe that it is best suited as a reference for those with prior courses in meteorology.
There are not many review problems at the end of any of the three chapters; this is disappointing, as there could easily be dozens (or more!) per section. Still, Bluestein's two-volume series is a must-have for all serious meteorologists.

Definitely a much more readable and applicable discussion of dynamic meteorology than the archetype book by Holton.
Part II is more geered toward operational forecasting and if you had dynamic meteo in college and still have Holton, only purchase Part II. Part I is a nice review of what you should have all ready known and only really used again since college if you are in grad school...otherwise, Part 2 is great, detailing synoptic wx systems and the interaction with QGOE forcing, etc...a nice comprehensive review, and some things new too, well worth the buy (only drawback is the price, ouch!!!)

All the weather plus the mathematics behind it

This is the second of two volumes by Bluestein and it is filled with useful information and presented in an engaging manner. Many meteorology textbooks (unfortunately) choose between presenting synoptic meteorology and dynamic meteorology--you're left to synthesize them yourself. The great virtue of this volume is that they're both here in all their glory, so you not only learn the mathematics but also get a feel for modern synoptic analysis. Bluestein is perhaps most famous for his tornado chases, but this volume proves that he is also a master of theory.
