Excellent Quick Reference

I've used Tom King's Book "Cultural Resource Laws & Practice" book in many of my CRM classes. This book is an excellent source of quick references on laws, procedures and plain language descriptions of how CRM is properly conducted. I love King's witty commentary and opinions on many cultural resource issues-- If you like this book, I highly suggest one of his other works, "Thinking About Cultural Resource Management: Essays From The Edge".

This is a great text for anyone wanting to get a perspective on Cultural Resource Management that you cannot get in most universities. King covers all the relevant laws and how they are practiced, offering his own commentary and critique throughout. Whether you agree with King on all points or none, you cannot deny that he hasn't shown what the laws are and how they are implemented from agency level to private. King raises some interesting dilemmas with CRM here and there, offers some perspective on what revisions may be necessary, and speaks to some of the reasons why those revisions might not be forthcoming anytime soon.
