About the Author
Kim Malchuk has called Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada home for almost 50 years. She is the youngest of seven children (five girls and two boys). Being raised in a dysfunctional, fearful home environment, by an unbalanced single-mother, childhood memories were not happy ones for Kim. She is thankful for being the last born and states that had it not been for the love and protection her older siblings provided her, she is not sure where she would be today. As a young child, something told her that life was better than what was being offered to her and held on to that hope that adult life would be happier. Kim s education and professional career never prepared her for the journey that she now finds herself on as a writer, as a story-teller, and shining as the motivational speaker she truly is. Whether it is in her writing or in her presentations, Kim s down-to-earth approach, easy to understand analogies, and humour about the difficulties in life that we all face, is where she is able to connect with both her readers and listeners alike. If you ever have the opportunity to either see Kim in person or tune into any one of her radio interviews, you will be drawn to her immediately. Kim captivates audiences with her contagious enthusiasm, high energy and fun sense of humour that consistently leaves people wanting more. Will you stop to taste the rain? The choice is yours.

Remember the innocence of childhood and simpler times? Making snow angels, catching fireflies, running through the lawn sprinkler? Searching for animal shapes in the clouds, chasing butterflies, blowing dandelion fuzz into the wind? How about sticking your tongue out and Tasting Rain?
Kim Malchuk is a storyteller...and what a storyteller she is! Malchuk has quite an inspiring story to share. "Tasting Rain" is a story of soul mates. It is a journey of devoted love, heartbreaking loss, brokenness, courage, strength, perseverance, healing, and tears that fell like rain. Along this journey, we are encouraged to stop and smell the roses. When we take the time to notice the little miracles that had been previously overlooked, we will be amazed at the gifts we receive ~ like a single white feather falling gracefully to the ground out of the clear, blue sky.
As readers turn over the final page, they will find that Malchuk's story is one of triumph, absolute surrender, the resiliency of the human spirit and life's lessons learned. "A COMPLETE TRIUMPH!"

What if you feel as if you are the happiest person in the world? Your eyes see nothing but beauty as you awake every morning, fulfilling your dreams. Then one day, like an unexpected storm from Mother Nature, tragedy strikes and you are left with nothing but intense pain. Kim Malchuk takes the reader through her personal story of devastation, loss of a loved one, and fear of the unknown. She becomes a Master storyteller as she gently takes the reader by the hand, and teaches them not only how to survive, but how to heal, and love once again. After she lost her husband to cancer, there were many challenges to face, along with choices to be made. The author describes how much our past can hurt, and how we can turn negativity into positive thinking through the process of renewal. I highly recommend this endearing memoir to all those who had to deal with loss of a loved one, loneliness, and grief. Kim Malchuk shows the reader how optimism, wisdom, and self-awareness can prepare you to the road of recovery. If you have ever experienced personal loss whether it be the loss of a loved one or simply the loss of your dreams, you have most assuredly felt like you were literally at the end of your rope. The devastation and confusion, loneliness and grief all seem to suck the life right out of you. Questions like "Why did this happen to me?", "What am I supposed to do now?", and maybe even "Does God hate me?" seem to be never-ending thoughts that cross our minds.
In Kim Malchuk's book "Tasting Rain", we are told a story of sadness and loss, hurt and frustration. Malchuk shares her thoughts and her story in such a way that makes one feel as though she is speaking directly to them. We are privy to her thoughts and feelings as she faces a journey many of us pray we never have to endure. Her heartache, perseverance, and ultimate joy for life are truly an inspiration to readers.
The common theme for Malchuk is optimism and positive thinking. Life is all about choices. Choosing to live your life to the fullest each day no matter what obstacles you may face will lead you to a life of happiness and joy. Life is hard. It is not perfect. We can choose to let negativity weigh us down or we can make a choice each day to wake up with a smile on our face and hope that our decisions lead us in a positive direction.
